About this place

Sogi Falls in Isa, Kagoshima, is 210m wide, 12m high on Sendai River upper stream called Niagara of the East. Kakuto pyroclastic flow erosion formed Senjojiki rocks and dynamic valley. Hideyoshi legend says he enjoyed view on return from Shimazu campaign. Park hosts Momiji Festival late November with maple and Yanagihara poem monument. Diversion channel 400m long 30m wide won Good Design and Sustainable Awards for flood control integrating landscape. Viewing via moved Shin-Sogi Bridge restored vista.
