Oshima Tsumugi silk 100 percent pre-dyed hand-woven Amami Oshima over 1,300 years jewel kasuri. Records Todaiji show brown tsumugi offered south islands Nara period. Dark brown originates plant dyes Sharinbai Fukugi Techi tannin iron mud. Production includes designing graph matching noribari glue shimebata loom tecchi 14-hour boil 20 dips one mud dip 3-4 repeats causing tannin-iron reaction soft never-fading deep black slight blue-green sheen. Mud dye legend hiding valuable cloth swamp tribute blackened accidentally. Peak 300k tan 1974 fell 8k today increasing rarity. Light warm aging into skin praised, brand Visvim inspired.
