Kinrin Lake in Yufuin Town, Yufu City, is a mysterious dual-source lake where hot spring and clear cold water gush simultaneously from bottom: western side bubbling warm, eastern side cold, merging in one pond. Area ~8,000 sqm small lake but from autumn to winter early morning cold air creates mist rising dramatically, symbol of Yufuin tourism. Named early Meiji by scholar Mori Kuso who saw fish scales glittering golden in sunset. Lakeside small Tenjo Shrine, circumnavigation path ~400m 20 minutes walk. Behind Mount Yufu backdrop, cafes and shops line shore, many photographers aim pre-dawn mist season. Carp swim visibly in clear water yet hot parts shimmer.
