About this place

Kokonoe Yume Ohashi, Japan's highest pedestrian-only suspension bridge at 173m height and 390m length opened 2006, spans Kyusuikei Gorge in Kokonoe Town, Kusu District. Below spreads native forests and Shindo Falls—Odaki 93m and Medaki 83m—selected in Japan's 100 Waterfalls. Four-season panorama: spring fresh green, summer deep green, autumn foliage, winter snowscape—you can experience airborne walk. Deck partially grating and glass observation windows provide thrill without excessive sway. Surrounding attractions Chojahara Visitor Center, Kuju mountain trailheads, Kuju Flower Park and Sujiyu Onsen create full-day loop. Admission: middle-school+ ¥600, elementary free; closes at wind over 10m/s so weather check essential. At 777m elevation, the bridge offers overwhelming scale vista, symbolic of Kyushu's highland tourism facilities.
