Ikeyama Suigen in Ubuyama Village is a National Famous Water spring gushing 30 tons per minute at constant 13.5°C from Kuju mountain range underground reservoir, nestled deep in forest within Aso-Kuju National Park. Crystal-clear water rises bubbling sand in a forest-surrounded pond, its transparency reflecting surrounding trees like a mirror. The water becomes Tamaki River tributary of Ono River feeding 21 downstream municipalities. Two small Buddhist statues enshrined at pond edge guard the spring, and locals fill poly-tanks for daily drinking water; a 100-yen honor vegetable stand is beloved. Nearby Yamabuki Suigen supplies Sen Tanada terraces. Seasonal light-up events highlight the mystical pond at night.
