Kakusenkei Gorge in Yamashiro? Yamanaka Onsen, Kaga City, Ishikawa is a 1.3-kilometer valley gully along the middle Daishoji River cutting sandstone strata, producing many fantastic rocks named Eboshi-iwa, Kaeru-iwa, Benkei-iwa etc. Located inside Yamanaka-Daishoji Prefectural Natural Park, it originated from Meiji calligrapher Kusakabe Meikaku who loved the valley and gave it name Kakusenkei meaning Valley of Crane Fairy. At foot of Ayatori Bridge lies Domo-ga-Fuchi pool, celebrated by Matsuo Basho during Oku no Hosomichi as Oku? his lodging in Yamanaka 8 nights in late summer, composition Yamazaka ya kiku wa taoranu yu no nioi. In 2015 this pool was selected as part of National Scenic Beauty Oku no Hosomichi Landscape Sites. From April to October kawadoko riverside platforms open serving warabi mochi.
