Rokkosaki Misaki officially Rokko-saki Lighthouse at Noroshi-cho, Suzu City at the tip of Noto Peninsula, Toyama? Ishikawa prefectural most northern cape, comprises rugged sea terrace with senjojiki rock platform. The Rokko-saki Lighthouse towers 12 meters but focal plane 48 meters above sea, first lit July 10, 1883, oldest active lighthouse still operating in Ishikawa, its light visible 18 nautical miles (33 km). The white stone tower displays a chrysanthemum imperial emblem plate, Japan's only lighthouse with such decoration, presented to commemorate construction, and is ranked A preservation lighthouse, among Japan's 50 selected lighthouses, modernization industrial heritage, and Lover's lighthouse romantic designation. Access is 400 meters steep slope from Michi-no-Eki Noroshi or 188 stone steps. Before lighthouse there is marker indicating Busan 783km, Shanghai 1,598km, Vladivostok 772km showing proximity to continental Asia, emphasizing sense of northernmost frontier. The cape's eastern side faces Pacific? Actually Sea of Japan both sides, so both sunrise over sea and sunset over sea can be enjoyed from same point, a rare feature actively promoted by tourism association.
